Worth the Drive North Texas weekend guide for October 2–4 featuring Dallas, Canton, Waxahachie, Corsicana and Richland Chambers.

Worth the Drive: Things to Do Around North Texas This Weekend

October 01, 2026•3 min read

October 2–4, 2026

Rain may be in the forecast this weekend, but I'm certainly not complaining — North Texas could use it. ☔️

And a little rain doesn't mean you have to cancel the weekend. From pumpkins and pints in Dallas to treasure hunting in Canton, I've rounded up a few things that are still Worth the Drive.

And if the rain really does settle in? I've got a plan for that, too.

🎃 DATE NIGHT: Pumpkins & Pints

Dallas Arboretum | Friday, October 2 | 6–9 PM

Fall at the Dallas Arboretum is already worth seeing, but add an adults-only evening with pumpkins, beer, wine and food trucks, and you've got a pretty easy Friday date night.

Wander through the fall displays, grab something to drink and enjoy an October evening overlooking White Rock Lake.

Why it made my list: Pumpkins + pints + the Arboretum after hours. That's a pretty good way to kick off October.

🛍️ TREASURE-HUNT PICK: First Monday Trade Days

Canton | October 1–4

If you haven't been to First Monday in a while, October is a pretty good excuse to go back.

We're talking acres and acres of antiques, vintage finds, home décor, boutique clothing, handmade goods, food and all kinds of things you absolutely did not go there looking for... but somehow need. 😂

Wear comfortable shoes, take some cash and, if you're serious about shopping, bring a wagon.

Why it made my list: You never know what you're going to find — and that's half the fun.

🚜 FAMILY PICK: Farm Heritage Day

Waxahachie | Sunday, October 4 | 2–5 PM

Here's one for the kids — and honestly, the grown-ups may like it just as much.

Farm Heritage Day celebrates Ellis County's agricultural history with the historic 1913 farmhouse, demonstrations, animals, children's activities and a little old-fashioned fall fun.

Why it made my list: It's an easy Sunday afternoon outing that feels like fall without requiring an elaborate plan.

☔️ CLOSER TO HOME: Rainy Weekend? We've Got You.

Corsicana + Richland Chambers

Here's where I'm changing the rules this week.

There isn't a huge festival or can't-miss event happening around Corsicana or Richland Chambers — and I'm not going to make one up just to fill the guide. 😂

If you're at Richland Chambers, this might be the perfect weekend to stay put. Coffee on the porch, football on TV, something good simmering on the stove and the sound of rain on the lake.

If cabin fever sets in, go grab a lakeside meal and let somebody else do the cooking.

And in Corsicana, don't forget about Schulman's Movie Bowl Grille. Bowling, movies, arcade games and food all under one roof make it a pretty darn good rainy-day backup plan.

Why it made my list: Sometimes Worth the Drive means knowing when not to drive very far. 😂

❤️ If I Had to Pick...

This week I'm picking First Monday in Canton. 🛍️

October weather, fall décor, treasure hunting and enough booths to guarantee I'll come home with something I didn't know I needed? Yep.

But if that rain starts falling at the lake, I reserve the right to change my answer to porch + coffee + absolutely nowhere to be. ☕️🌧️

Whatever you choose, have a great weekend — rain or shine!

And if you know about something happening next weekend that should make the list, send it my way. I'm always looking for something Worth the Drive.
